As with many early silver coins, most Capped Bust Dimes are weakly struck and do not have sharp details in certain areas. With similar graded coins compare to find better details. On the obverse, compare star centers, hair, and the drapery on shoulders and bust. On reverse, compare the horizontal lines on the upper part of shield. Capped Bust Dimes are readily available in lower grades and one is able to make a complete series collection. They do become rare when going to Mint State grades. Excellent eye appeal and full detail strike examples command high premium for Capped Bust Dime Values compared to average retail prices. Key Date for Capped Bust Dime is 1822.
